Maddy’s life was forever changed by the devastating loss of her mother, Clare Wood. At just 10 years old, she experienced first-hand the lasting impact domestic abuse has on families and loved ones.

As she grew up, Maddy watched her grandfather, Michael Brown, campaign tirelessly in her mum’s memory. His determination to secure the right for people to know if a partner has a history of violent behaviour was both powerful and inspiring. When Michael sadly passed away when Maddy was 21, she felt compelled to continue sharing their story and to carry forward both her mum’s and grandad’s legacy.

Since then, Maddy has spoken alongside Michelle Livesey-Feingold about the impact of Clare’s Law and the lives it continues to save. She has also appeared across national media, including BBC Breakfast and a range of documentary platforms.

Maddy is passionate about raising awareness of domestic abuse and is committed to ensuring that Clare’s Law continues to reach those who need it—so that no other family must endure what hers has faced.
