Michelle has worked as a journalist for over 20 years and has been a reporter with Hits Radio (formerly Key 103) since 2005. She is now Head of UK Newsgathering for Bauer Media.

Michelle played a pivotal role in supporting Michael Brown, the father of Clare Wood, following Clare’s murder by her former partner. Through determined campaigning and close collaboration, they worked together to establish what became known as Clare’s Law.

Following a meeting with the Home Secretary in September 2012, Clare’s Law was introduced as a pilot across four areas of England and Wales. For the first time, individuals could request information from the police about a partner’s history of abusive behaviour—empowering them to make informed decisions about their safety and future.

On International Women’s Day 2014, Clare’s Law was rolled out across England and Wales. It has since helped protect thousands of people and was later placed on a statutory footing through the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 as the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS).
